It was the dream of Jim Dukhovny at the basic to implement the task of making a flying cars.
Four great brains, namely, Jim Dukhovny, Constantine Kisly, Pavel Markin and Oleg Petrov; met at a Coupa Cafe in Palo Alto. Then was drawn the design of the first flying car on a tissue paper. The car was estimated to be built in 6 months.
The first sub-scale prototype was built by 2016. This attracted the attention of great businessman Tim Draper. He saw great potential and invested intothe project.
After proving a successful forward flight, huge investments were gained and the work started moving at a great pace.
In 2018, the basic structure of the car was tested, that was proved to be successful.
In 2019, after 4 years of Reseach & Development, the first full sized prototype was successfully flown. Also, there was a semi-public showcase of the cars for the investors, that had a small flying session.
By 2021, Hirashi Gazashi, the designer working in Bugatti and Jaguar was appointed, to design the car. The car was to be designed with a sporty look and elegance at the top notch. Then the company was rebranded to Alef.
Model A
The Alef Model A introduces an innovative concept for a flying car, aiming to seamlessly integrate with existing driving and parking infrastructure.
This ground-breaking vehicle serves as a personal transportation option, offering both vertical takeoff capabilities and forward flight functionality. Designed as an all-electric (eVTOL) model, it is expected to achieve a flight range of around 110 miles (180 km) and double that distance, reaching 200 miles (320 km), when used as a ground vehicle.
The Alef design incorporates hub motors for land travel and utilizes eight motor-controller-propeller systems for distributed electric propulsion during flight. To address the challenge of optimizing battery usage during flight, Alef employs a unique transition mechanism between vertical and forward flight modes.
Once airborne, the vehicle tilts sideways, transforming the car’s sides into top and bottom wings, resembling a biplane for forward flight. Simultaneously, the spherical cabin rotates and swivels sideways, ensuring the passengers remain upright and facing forward in the direction of travel.
Unlike many electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) projects that focus on aviation or taxi services, Alef adopts a more traditional automotive market approac
Conclusion
In conclusion, Alef Aeronautics stands as a visionary company, transcending the boundaries of imagination with their concept of flying cars. Through their relentless pursuit of innovation, they have transformed a dream into a tangible reality.
With the Alef Model A, they offer a groundbreaking solution that seamlessly integrates with existing infrastructure while providing vertical takeoff and forward flight capabilities.
As we embark on this journey into the future, Alef Aeronautics paves the way for a new era in transportation, where the skies become our highways. It is known to God what face the transportation would take in the coming future. The possibilities are truly awe-inspiring.
