Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI Paperback – April 3, 2018

Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI is a 2017 nonfiction book by David Grann that chronicles the murders of members of the Osage Nation in Oklahoma during the 1920s. The book details how the Osage, who had become wealthy after oil was discovered on their land, were systematically targeted by white men who sought to steal their fortunes. As the death toll rose, the newly created FBI took over the investigation, and it was here that the agency began to develop its modern methods of crime detection.

Grann’s book has been praised for its meticulous research and its gripping narrative. It has been awarded the Edgar Award for Best Fact Crime, the Anthony Award for Best True Crime Book, and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Biography. It was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Nonfiction.
